Edward Skeels' reminiscence (1969) describes his work on a homestead survey on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River in what later became Glacier National Park and on a railroad survey for the Gilmore and Pittsburgh Railroad on the Lemhi and Salmon Rivers in Idaho in 1909 and 1910. (SC 1470) This collection consists of a reminiscence written by Skeels in 1969. The reminiscence describes his work on a homestead survey on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River in what later became Glacier National Park and on a railroad survey for the Gilmore & Pittsburgh Railroad on the Lemhi and Salmon Rivers in Idaho in 1909 and 1910.

Edward B. Skeels was born August 7, 1887, in Wisconsin. In 1908, at the age of 21, he was working for the engineering firm of Sibley, Bonner & Toole of Missoula. The firm secured a contract to survey homestead lands east of the Rockies and the boundaries of Glacier National Park. Incorporated in 1907 under the state laws of Idaho, the company operated a railway line that linked the mining towns of Gilmore and Salmon, Idaho, with the Oregon Short Line at Armstead, Montana, in order to carry ore to the Butte and Anaconda smelters.
